School Picnic

On Friday it was our annual school picnic. It was great holding the picnic on the school grounds again this year, as it gave the children the opportunity to show off their learning environment and take risks in a comfortable setting.

The school picnic fits well with the Key Competency of Participating and Contributing.

This key competency is about being actively involved in our class, school and local community.

The school picnic allows us to make connections with our school and wider community.

Taking part in the picnic gives the children a sense of belonging and the confidence to try new things, e.g. the waterslide.

It was great to see Mums, Dads, Grandparents and Whanau here having a lovely afternoon with the children in Ruma Waru.

Bubble Fun!

Today Room 1 invited us to join in on their bubble fun! Mrs Dodd had bought to school a special bubble mixture and wand. They were able to make ginormous bubbles! The look of joy and excitement on the children's faces made the deviation from our plans worthwhile. It created wonderment and awe!

Thanks Mrs Dodd and Room 1

Art Deco

On Friday we braved the rain, many of us left our uniforms at home and came to school in our best Art Deco fancy dress. It was great to see the rain didn't detour anyone from getting glammed up!

After a quick dance in the hall and parade to show off our outfits we enjoyed a morning of discovery with Room 7 and 1.

We hope you enjoy looking at our photos...

We will write recounts about our day on Monday and add a couple to our blog, too.

iPad Apps

This week the iPads were introduced and we were working on the Feed a Frog app. This is a great basic facts app.

Below are the apps we currently have on the iPads
