Hangi

Today we celebrated Matariki by having a school hangi.
For some of us, it was our first time celebrating Matariki and having a hangi at school. It was exciting watching the hangi being laid and later lifted. We learnt about the layers of the hangi and how the kai was cooked.

Lots of the children were nervous about eating the kai, but everyone tried something new and were surprised by how much they enjoyed it!

Thank you to our fabulous helpers. Without your help this event couldn't have happened.

East Coast Lab: National Aquarium

Today we visited the East Coast Lab at the National Aquarium of New Zealand with Room 7. We became scientists and learnt about volcano's, tsunami's, earthquakes and how to make a survival pack to be prepared for an emergency.

We had a great time learning about natural disasters, exploring the aquarium and playing at the park, too.
